Pick-Up on Four Shafts

210.00

For the month of April, weaving workshops will focus on pick-up techniques that can be used on three different weave structures: beiderwand, mock damask, and double weave. Pick-up is the process in which a warp pattern is picked up with a stick in order to weave patterns not otherwise possible on threading and tie-ups alone. When pick-up is used, surface design possibilities are endless on just a simple four-shaft loom.

Although there will be no loom set-up, the weave structure, threading, and tie-up will be explained in detail at the beginning of class. Students will weave a project using the pick-up technique and leave with a finished sample.

All levels welcome.

Each workshop is 5 hours long, 10 am - 3 pm.
